UNINVITED GUEST
UNINVITED GUEST
By Kiko
It was a grateful day. Many foods and market snacks were served in the living room. People gathered laughing, some of them were busy finishing their food. Nothing out of the ordinary that night. There was only a beautiful full moon, then the occasional sound of a dog howling in the distance.
The cold night embraced slowly, while the darkness of the night grew darker. The atmosphere was silent for a moment, the guests rushed to leave. The owner of the house only lit candles as lanterns. As time went on, the howling of the dog grew louder. In the corner of the room, the two girls began to feel strange. Suddenly the book on the table fell, then there was a knock on the door.
“Knock...knock...knock.” They fell silent, looking at each other.
“Knock, knock, knock”, the sound appeared again. The expression on his face began to change, cold sweat began to drip.
“Did you hear that?” asked Okta.
“Yes, I heard it,” Riri answered.
“How about we check into the living room window.”
“But the whole room is dark.”
“We can use a cellphone flashlight.” It was only a few steps out of the room when the sound of a rooster startled them.
Kukuruyuuuuk…. The two girls supported each other, holding hands tightly.
Sreeeeekkkkk… Riri opened the window’s curtain.
“There’s nothing outside, huh.” Riri sighed.
“Yes it's nothing,” said Okta.
Then okta looked around. His heart was beating fast, his breathing was irregular, but he still tried to stay calm. The ghost figure continued to stare at him. His face was black and scorched, his eyes green like young leaves.
They kept staring, but Riri didn't know what was happening. Okta was silent, his mouth seemed to be locked when he saw the ghost only half a body with a distance of about 2 meters from the window.
“Ta…?”
“Octa?” said Riri.
“Ta, are you okay?” she asked once more.
“Hah? What? What did you say?” Octa said.
“What's wrong with you? How come you're weird, just shut up and stare outside.”
“Oh no, nothing happened to me, Ri.”
Okta looked outside again, but the ghost had disappeared.
